A car made entirely of 3D-printed parts is in the works.
Dutch-born Canadian Jim Kor dreams of creating commercially viable
sustainable vehicles to one day revolutionise the way that we commute.
He has gone from designing farm machinery to developing an urban electric vehicle called the URBEE.
He has gone from designing farm machinery to developing an urban electric vehicle called the URBEE.
His dream vehicle is economical and lightweight, almost entirely made of
3D-printed plastic parts except for the base and chassis, which are
made of metal. He hopes the teardrop-shape will make the car more
aerodynamic and therefore cheaper to run.
Once produced, the car will be driven from San Francisco to New York on ten gallons of fuel (less than 40 litres). Able to hold two passengers, the URBEE could well be the next big thing in urban transportation.
